Thanks - I have a Panasonic DMC-fz3. TMI: I got my backdrop from an art supply store; I walked in and said, "Give me the biggest piece of white paper you've got!" It's very thick, and big enough to be the back and "floor" in my photos. I tape it to a wall right next to a big window, with the end sitting flat on a table which my item sits on. I put the camera on a tripod and use the "A" setting (aperture priority) to play with depth of field, which lets me focus on the item and make the background blurry.
