Honk honk!

Sometimes I pop into the Sneakers' discussion thread by typing "Honk honk." Well, yesterday I was just looking at Treasuries and the "title" window opened - and I had nothin'! So that's what I came up with. Click and comment, if you dare.

Pom poms: YES!

The buyer of my Candy Cane Stripe Baby Hat opted for the red pom poms, and wooo, how cute!
It makes me very happy to imagine a darling baby wearing one of my hats!

Help the Bunnies!

I was reading the other Annette's blog just now and saw pictures of the sweetest foster rabbits. The mother is being fixed, but donations are needed for her three babies to be fixed as well... spread the word if you can!

Cyber Monday!

I'm sponsoring Monday's Sneak Attack! Woo hoo! Sponsors get to choose an optional avatar theme, so people can put on special outfits (if they want to) on a Sneak Attack day! Since it's Cyber Monday, I thought robots would be a fun theme. Here is the discussion thread about the Attack - come by and say hi, and spread the word, if you can! Thank you kindly!

Darling readers, if you are having a sale in your Etsy shop, please post a link to it in the comments... because we Sneakers love to buy handmade!

Making a list, checking it twice...

My fellow Sneaker* FromMarz is having a sale, and he has stuff perfect for that hard-to-buy for person. Yes, really. His reclaimed wood business card holders/sports card displays/recipe card stands have been big hits in my family so far. Now I've got my eye on a fab "candle" holder, and I'm even having him work on a certain something for a Secret Santa gift, but I can't tell you about that yet.

Don't even get me started on his lovely wife, VerveInteriors, whose lovely art is hanging in our home. After you shop FromMarz, you might need to pop by Verve's to pick up some of the best holiday decor ever. I'm getting one for me and one for Kathy. Unless you snatch them up before I do, of course.

*Sneaker = Sneakers Notorious on Etsy for Attacking with Kindness. There's a Sneak Attack Monday 11/30 - and I'm the sponsor, so come by and shop!

Well, would you look at that - today I reached 333 shop hearts! Meaning that 333 people have marked my Etsy shop as a favorite! Wow! Remember when I got up to 100?!

Guess what kind of Etsian is my 333rd - a yarn shop! Go figure! Anyway, let's spread the love all the way to Italy, shall we? Please check out zuccherofilato's
Etsy shop and her blog, both filled with yummy creations for the fiber addicted. I'll bet you're gonna "heart" her!

"Girl fight!" the unabridged version:

It all started during a Sneak Attack, when ShadesofVictoria snatched something out of SillyStringsNThings’s cart. Silly sighed and said, “(---1---).”

Shades said, “Oh yeah (---2---)?” she asked , whipping off her (---3---), “You’d better (---4----) unless you wanna (---5---)!”

“You don’t have the (---6---), you (---7---)!”

The two were rolling around on the (---8---) and (---9---) each other when doodlebeacards and tinkersshop came in and had to separate them. “Cut it out, you (---10---)s!” said Doodle. “ You need to (---11---) at each other, and not be (---12---).”

"Yeah," said Tink… just (---13---) each other alone! There are plenty more Sneak Attacks left this year, and we need for there to (---14---) (---15---) in (---16---).”

(Note: the above is the full version of my latest Sneaker-filled Treasury.)

Soaps/Lotions Giveaway!

Darling readers, I know you need to know about this Wisconsin Street Team giveaway featuring a fellow Sneaker's products. Who doesn't want to win $15-worth of excellent bath and body goodies from Country Soaps by Marlene?

So far, Merino and I have tried some of her shower gel, hand and body lotion, goat's milk soap with a built-in loofah, and unscented solid lotion (pictured at left), and we love it all!

Shameless plug: the beautiful background in my photo of the solid lotion is
my Flower Petals Scarf, in case you feel like treating yourself to a scarf to go along with Country's fabulous stuff!

Fiber is good for you!

Hey, my orange-and-black hat is in this fantastic Treasury by fellow Sneak Attacker, Larue!

Now, after you go browse that Treasury, clicking and commenting, you need to head right on over to Larue's shops. First, there is LarueFashions, and then there's Sterling Dreams. Disclaimer: if you happen to be reading this and you are a female relative of mine, I have probably bought a Christmas present for you from Larue already, so until after Christmas, what you should do is shop for others in there. Or, do what I do, and intend to shop for others and then keep all of Larue's beautiful jewelry for yourself!

For those of you who can make your own darn jewelry (lucky!), you'll want to proceed immediately to Larue's
Surplus Supply Shop... and then there's her new shop where you'll be able to find vintage goodies, too!

Special preview photo!

Tonight I listed a cute red elf-y baby hat on Etsy. I also made a companion hat, which is for a stuffed animal. I am thinking about calling it the There's Nothing Worse Than A Hat That Smashes Your Ears Down Hat. I'm waiting until morning to list is to try and spread the listings out a little, to improve visibility, etc., but wanted to give you, my darling readers, a sneak preview. Whatd'ya think?

Talk about thankful!

Look at this beautiful Treasury that VintageEmbellishment, a fellow Sneak Attacker, put my felted table runner in!

Actually, the more accurate term for it is fulled, which means that I knitted something and then shrunk it... but people I think people are more familiar with the term felted.

Did you notice how perfectly it goes with
iWunder's oven mitt?!

Parises? Paris's? Paris'?

Here is a link to my latest Treasury, all from various places called Paris.

Annette and The Mystery of the Blackhawks Scarf

I finished Merino's scarf, and, since I'm still in my "give gifts now" mode, I wrapped it and gave it to him, and he loves it. He is fascinated by the fact that each side of the scarf has a different stripe pattern on it. He thinks it is the coolest thing! I love him - and I love being engaged to a non-knitter.

Too late, hot plate.

I got a totally cool vintage fruit crate label from Tink, because my childhood best friend's name is Judy, and I thought I could make her something cool for Christmas. Then I bought a wood tray at a craft store... then I pickled it, and then I decoupaged the label onto the tray.

I called Judy this afternoon, when I was on my way home. Her mom answered her phone. Judy had gone into cardiac arrest and was in intensive care.
Then I got home to discover it had been a really good mail day... including some beautiful yarn handspun by ET, which Manic purchased - and had ET send to me. To me! Warms your cockles, doesn't it?

Then Judy's brother called me, and told me if I had the time, I should head down there, and that he should be there by Wednesday. A little while later, he called back, in tears, and told me, "Judy's gone."

The lesson I learned today is that it's okay not to wait for an occasion or a holiday to give someone a gift.

Scarfapalooza!

I took a bunch of pictures yesterday and am planning on taking more tonight, to get all my ill-fated-craft-fair wares listed on Etsy a.s.a.p. Here are the first two:

The
Autumn Red Scarf and the White Ruffle Alpaca Scarf.

Monday, October 19, 2009

If it's Monday and you're Sneaky, clap your hands!

I'm sponsoring tonight's Sneak Attack. If you don't know what I'm talking about, head on over to The Handmade Movement to read all about it. If you do know what I'm talking about, get yourself to this thread a.s.a.p. and help me drum up enthusiasm - I'll be the one in the corndog avatar! Plainly, it's going to be a fun one!

Oh, and have you seen my Peanut Pumpkin Treasury?

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

I'm a winner, Corny!

And now you'll see why I really, truly, had to win the Handmade Movement weekly giveaway last Thursday:

The prize was this beautiful felted bowl from HandmadebySandi , which, as you can tell, goes perfectly with the blues throughout the main rooms of our house (plus I knew Monkeroo would love it, too)!

I love Fiestaware - and so should you!

Here's my latest Treasury! Look at some of the fabulous Fiesta items to be found on Etsy!

And looky here, my Sneaky pal jj put my funny holiday tags in this Treasury! Yes, that is Santa in a bumper car! My friend Bryan sent me that card - and that's one of the reasons I love making those gift tags: instead of throwing out this greeting card, it can be used as a Christmas tag! Yay!

Come see me Saturday!

Darling readers, I am freaking out just a little bit. The Hoosier Artisan Holiday Boutique (my very first craft show!) is in less than a week - and there is no way I have enough stock to sell! All the same, help me spread the word, won't you? Send people to buy raffle tickets for a good cause - I wonder who will will my Cranberries scarf (previously mentioned in this post).

Think pink.

I didn't want to distract anyone from the Sneakerversary, but now that the main party is done, I have to tell you... I was really pleased with my photos of my Mammogram Mohair Scarf (previously mentioned in this post and then this one). It's done, and it is kind of fabulous. I just found out that this photo might be in the (Sunday!) October 4 paper! It's true - as part of a story about the Hoosier Artisan Holiday Boutique! By the way, yes, when you come see me on the 17th, I will be wearing my new Buy Handmade t-shirt!

Don't go tellin' my momma, now, or my aunt - I want them to read about 50% of the scarf's proceeds being donated to Aunt Eldena's American Cancer Society Relay For Life team when I send them the page out of the newspaper! Hee hee!

Edited to add: turns out the photo was not used, but the scarf was mentioned -although I was not the person credited with knitting the scarf. At least the details of the Hoosier Artisan Holiday Boutique were correct!

Another Sneaky Treasury!

In celebration of the Sneakerversary tomorrow (it's not too late to enter the HUGE giveaway... I may have mentioned the giveaway before), I got this Treasury West - featuring both "boys" on our team.
